This is a compact 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner with a remote, best suited for a bedroom, garage, porch, or other single room where floor space is tight. It can cool a room enough to be livable, and the smaller footprint is a real plus compared with bulkier dual hose units. The main tradeoffs are the single hose design, which is less efficient and can pull in warm air, plus frequent condensate draining and noticeable noise. Fit and reliability concerns also came up, including awkward window installation and reports of units failing after months.

The only pro I see in this over the Midea DUO posted on here several times in last month, is a much smaller footprint. This might be helpful if floor space is a premium like in a camper.

I hear you'll be a pretty cool cat with one of these.
Well I'm a hot dog right now without it.

Actually, triple hoses is the way to go. One for intake, One for exhaust and one for all the hot air being generated by this thread!

I have a unit like this and it smells musty this year.

I have flushed some funky residue buildup from the 2 output nozzles so they run clean now, I make sure the pan doesn't full up in the back.

I still have a musty, mildew odor when the AC portion runs, the fans smells fine. Any other suggestions?

Are the down votes and 'single hose' comments for this unit? 🤔 Helpful to know why dual hose is more efficient for a portable AC unit. Also helpful - to know if/that single hose units have a lot of condensation and need to be drained. (i.e. - potential for floor damage!!) There are some instances where a cheaper single hose AC unit is appropriate. I bought a 14,000 dual hose BTU AC for the living room main floor (Did NOT pay attention to dimensions. . . it is so big!)😳 It works in an old house that has walls between rooms, but not upstairs.. . .and irregular size windows do not make a window unit feasible anywhere.

I am looking for something that will cool a room at night, turn it off and use a fan in the cool room. (This thread is helpful - thought an option was to move it from room to room).

Point is - single hose units are not efficient for AC running hours at a time. Are they or can they be efficient for short periods of time?

I'll still take a good single hose over a bad dual hose. Single hose still work. They might not be as efficient, but they still work. People try to turn it into a black and white issue, which it isn't.

For me a bigger feature to look for is inverter technology.

10k is 20% more cooling than 8K
😕That's incorrect. 10K is 25% more than 8K, not 20% more.
8K is 20% less than 10K.

Is 8K BTU vs 10KBTU a huge difference? My 20 year old HVAC kicked the bucket. I was thinking of getting something like this to use for a week until new system was installed. A few people on marketplace had some 8k units for 100
This is an excellent inexpensive temporary solution that would fit your needs well since it is very inexpensive compared to most portable A/C units, it is only single hose which is easier to place and install near almost any window quite easily compared to a dual hose design (even though it is less efficient) and it is fairly easy to resell once you're done with it since it remains in the the affordable price range of more people vs something like a good $500 dual hose portable A/C unit. I bought a single hose Samsung 12K BTU unit that looks like this one about 6 years ago when my home's A/C went out on a Friday evening when it was 118F outside and the repair guy couldn't get there until Monday. It easily kept my single room cool by turning it on for only about 2-3 minutes every 15-20 minutes. I intentionally got one with a very high BTU rating so it would cool my single room faster because I knew they are somewhat loud and wanted to have it on for as short of a time as possible.

I don't know anything about portable A/C's. Even though this is a single hose, will it work in a garage for just a couple of hours every other day. Would it help if I opened the garage door a little and put the hose outside?

*Why did I get a thumbs down vote for asking a question?
Yes it will work in a garage, however most garages are not sealed nor insulated nearly as well as a bedroom of a house so there will be a lot more air leaks and heat conduction between the outside and inside of the garage which means you will need a lot more cooling power (BTU rating) to cool the garage as quickly compared to using it in a bedroom of your house. This also means that any portable A/C unit used in a garage with more air leaks will not be able to cool it down to the same temp as it would in a bedroom of the house. Most garages also have a much larger air volume than a standard bedroom so here are some stats from my house but these stats will vary greatly depending on your garage's total volume, insulation and air gaps. I used my 12K BTU single hose portable A/C unit in my 11ft x 12ft bedroom of a newer built average priced house when it was 118F outside with 10% humidity and it kept my room cool (about 75F average temp) by turning it on for only 2-3mins every 15-20mins. I also tried it in my small-ish 2-car garage (sorry no exact dimensions but it barey fit 2 sedans side-by-side) which had a garage door with failing seals around it so I could see a little daylight most of the way around the door and when I ran the same A/C unit nonstop in there the temp equalized at about 73F after about an hour, and it initially took about 20mins to get down to 75F. I hope this response with a lot of exact stats & facts is a lot more helpful than everyone else who chose to give you answers like just a thumbs up or down with no explaination, or a single sentence response like "single hose sucks!" or "these are terrible!".

People are not buying these if they want a permanent AC install... I don't see how this is helpful.
I think that guy actually was trying to replace his home's A/C with a bunch of portable ones in every room as a permanent solution. It obviously costs more in electricity to run half a dozen portable A/C units all at once vs just the home's A/C system, but it sounds like what he's doing is only running 1 portable A/C unit in whichever room he is in rather than using the home's A/C system to cool the whole house so his solution actually does use somewhat less electricity, it is just far less convenient to have to turn on and off different portable units every time you go to a different room of the house and wait a few minutes for the new room you enter to get cool.

No it doesn't not if he doesn't vent it. He's just circulating hot air into hot air.
