The Yoga Slim 7x stands out as a thin Snapdragon X2 Elite laptop with strong everyday performance, solid battery life, and 32GB of RAM. The OLED screen and USB C charging are appealing, and the machine is described as smooth for office work, coding, and even Linux image builds. The main tradeoff is Windows on ARM compatibility, since some x86 apps and drivers still do not work well, especially niche software. A few units also have harsh sound or coil whine, so it feels best suited to buyers comfortable with ARM quirks.

  • Office workers who want long battery life and fast everyday apps, because Snapdragon X2 can be more efficient and the machine stays smooth in normal work.

  • People who need 32GB of memory for multitasking, because the large RAM configuration is especially welcome when memory prices are high.

  • USB-C charger minimalists who already own 100W-or-less chargers, because this model runs on a 65W USB-C charger and smaller chargers can still work normally.

  • Developers compiling Linux images or running heavier local builds, because the machine can compile Linux images quickly without stuttering.

  • People who depend on niche Windows software or ARM-unfriendly peripherals, because some apps and scanner software do not work on Snapdragon.

  • Graphics-heavy users, because Ryzen chips are described as better for graphics and the integrated GPU here is weak.

  • Buyers who want a quiet laptop, because this unit can have severe coil whine and harsh audio.

  • People expecting broad x86-style compatibility, because Windows on Snapdragon can leave the machine barely compatible with some software.

Except the fact that the MBA is an Apple product.
Yes, meaning that the OS was actually designed to run on ARM. Windows ARM support is a crappy afterthought they kludged together.

Windows has been completely recompiled to run on arm just like macOS was recompiled to run on arm.

Crazy expensive! I would not call this a good deal. And it's a shame because some people might not understand the difference between arm and x86 wind up spending a fortune on a computer that is barely compatible with anything

Arm computer is the next big thing for Windows. They will make this replace the old window's platform this summer with the new Nvdia spark chip. Just my though. ARM snapdragon x2 laptop is already faster and more efficiency than any top intel and amd's cpu.

I have had an X2 and an Elite. My portable scanner software wasn't working in any of them. There were also other issues. I would avoid SD until they iron these out

Which X2E-based laptops have you owned and tested? Curious if you're basing your opinion on actual hands-on experience or just parroting something you read online and acting like your an expert?

Your portable scanner software company wrote and released x86 software and driver but not an ARM version and you're blaming the Snapdragon CPU? Sounds like misplaced blame...it's not Qualcomm's job to write drivers for every piece of hardware out there.

I use this exact machine at work- it was provided to me, so I have no real confirmation bias here. If it sucked, I'd say so.

I have to say, I'm blown away by it! Performance is really good; never chugs, never runs stutters. I use VSCode, office apps, etc. nothing super heavy. But this thing can compile Linux images quickly.

Battery life is better than average but not stellar. I keep my brightness all the way up and can get about 5-6 hours of solid work in. On balanced mode.

I've not ONCE ran into a single ARM app issue. I couldn't tell you if/when an app is being translated by Prism or is native ARM. Seamless... and I was not expecting that at all.

For this price I think it's a fair deal. I have a MacBook Pro M2 and this Lenovo is an equal in real world quality, keyboard, perf, etc - I don't feel the urge to go back to the MBP when using this device, like I usually do with other Win PCs.

Recommended.

Is 1100 nits good enough to do some internet browsing and point at the woods at night to hunt for rabbits?

Maybe Qualcomm would be a great cpu for laptops in near future but it is not here yet
