The refurbished MOZA R3 and R5 bundles stand out as affordable entry points into direct drive racing wheels, with the R3 especially drawing attention for its lower price and coupon stacking. The wheel and base generally arrive working, and some R5 deliveries look nearly new once set up. The main caveat is refurb packaging and completeness, since several arrivals came in the original box with minimal protection, scuffs on pedals, or missing hardware. The clutch pedal and some accessories may also require extra spending, making the bundle feel less complete than expected.
Sim racers upgrading from a gear-driven wheel, because direct drive delivers stronger force feedback and more precise steering feel.
Drivers who want a complete pedal-and-shifter setup for manual practice, because the wheel, pedals, and shifter make the most immersive way to learn clutch timing.
Buyers expecting pristine refurbished packaging, because units can arrive in the original box with minimal protection and visible scuffs from shipping.
People who want a trouble-free support experience, because the brand's issue handling has a poor reputation and credit card theft was reported after purchases.
Drivers who need broad game compatibility across many titles, because DirectInput support is limited and the wheel may only work with a narrow game list.
Yes, several refurbished R3 and R5 buyers reported that everything worked after setup. The main caveat is packaging quality: units often arrive in the original box with minimal protection, and some had scuffs or missing hardware.
Refurb pricing can be much lower, such as an R3 at $199 and an R5 bundle at $279, which made the upgrade worth it for some buyers. The tradeoff is that refurb units may show shipping wear and the packaging can be sparse.
No. The bundle is missing a clutch pedal, and the shifter and handbrake are not included or discounted. If you want a clutch, plan on adding about $40 for it.
Yes. BOOSTED can be combined with WELCOME10, but the personalized first-purchase email code will not combine. WELCOME10 may also remove free shipping, so the extra savings can be small.
MOZA has been described as lacking DirectInput support, which can limit compatibility to roughly 57 titles. Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec are cited as broader-compatibility options for more games over time.
The MOZA R3 is direct drive, while Logitech G29/G923-style wheels are gear driven. Direct drive is generally considered the better setup for stronger, more precise force feedback.
Awesome, thanks for posting, and for those who mentioned the R5. I got the R5 refurbished bundle for $279 vs the R3 bundle for $199, it seemed worth the difference.
There's also a WELCOME10 code that will combine with the BOOSTED code (whereas the personalized first-purchase code they send in the email will not combine): it's a $10 discount, but removes the free shipping (at least for me in the usa), so eg $10-$8.90 only an additional $1 savings. But hey I'll take what I can get.
I heard to go Logitech for more compatible and can do emulators...can this?
EDIT: Found on reddit saying
"Moza doesn't support DirectInput, so game support is limited to 57 titles or thereabout. If you only play one game and it's supported, then you're good for now, but what about in 5 years?
By comparison, Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec all support DI, and therefore support hundreds of games and will continue to support a wider range of titles in the future. I got my nephew a $15 20+ year old Logitech MOMO wheel and it works great on a wide range of modern games."

Ordered the R5 bundle and received it today. Shipped in original box with only the wheel, peddles and direct drive mount, no other packing material other than 2 pieces of paper to keep everything from banging around during shipping. Haven't hooked it up yet to see if it works but not well packed and pedals scratch up likely from shipping. Looks more like customer return than factory refurbished

This shifter is a skip. I've got an R5 bundle and it's excellent but the H pattern is the weakest part. Jumped to a SHH Thorn for the same price and it's a night and day difference

The R3 bundle arrived the same way. Shipped in original box covered in tape and a few holes. No foam or bubble wrap. Everything just knocking around.

Eh decided to pull the trigger on a R3 package. Welcome10 and boosted saved me around 12%. Been using a G29 for 5 years and been wanting an upgrade. I realize this is entry level DD but couldn't resist for the price.
Received refurbished R5 bundle. Order was processing for a week and then received a shipping confirmation in the AM and received the delivery that afternoon. Just tested it out for the first time. Everything works. Did not receive enough hardware to fully mount the base to the desk clamp but am getting by with two screws. The wheel and base looks brand new. The pedals and pedal base have a few scuff marks where the paint is missing but functions. The brake pedal has slightly more resistance than gas pedal. Is that normal? Did I receive a brake modded brake pedal? Downloaded software and set it up, loaded up Beamng and tested it out. Pretty cool. Happy with purchase.

yes, you will definitely have the manual transmission basics down very well and using the shifter and the pedals is the most immersive way to go in games. when you switch to a real car, the hardest part will be gauging the clutch bite point because it's different between cars but you will be way more capable than someone who didn't spend time with a race sim.
Ordered the R5 bundle 6/17, got fedex notice of shipping last night, arrived today. Shipped in (what I assume is) the original product box, containing wheel, base, pedals, clamp, cables, screws, manual, etc. All the parts were in (what I assume is) the original packing of thick cardboard trays that held everything in place. The only thing that looked not-new was the tape sealing the box (the tape said "Inspected by Best Buy"). The only thing I wish it had was a list of all the parts that's supposed to be in the box so I can check if I have everything. I haven't set it up yet so I can't confirm operability but so far it looks good.
