Dell's XPS 13 here reads as a very light premium ultraportable, with the strongest draws being its 2.2 pound aluminum build, touchscreen, backlit keyboard, and 2.5K 120Hz display. The Core 5 320 is described as surprisingly strong in single core performance for a low power Intel chip, and the machine is framed as especially appealing for travel and light work. The main knocks are price and memory flexibility, since the 16GB model sits well above the 8GB base and the RAM is not upgradable. It feels like a polished small laptop, but the value depends heavily on how much the weight and screen matter.
Common Questions (6)
It is positioned as a strong ultra-light Windows alternative because it weighs about 2.2 lb, has a touchscreen, and includes a backlit keyboard. The main caveat is price: the EDU config is seen as close to MacBook Air territory, and the base $599 model only has 8GB RAM, so the $749.99 version is mainly paying for 16GB.
Yes. The panel is described as a 13.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen with 120Hz refresh and 500-nit brightness, and it is repeatedly called a standout feature over non-touch alternatives.
The laptop is about 2.2 lb, which makes it unusually light for a full Windows laptop in this price range. That weight is the main reason it is attractive for frequent travel and light work on the go.
No, the RAM is not upgradable, so the 16GB configuration matters if you need more memory. The base EDU model is 8GB, and that limitation is a major reason some shoppers consider it poor value.
The base EDU model is $599 with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage, while the $749.99 version adds 16GB RAM. That means the extra $150 is mainly paying for the memory upgrade.
No headphone jack is mentioned, and one practical workaround is using a USB dock or dongle. A Plugable DisplayLink dock can be used to connect a headphone adapter.

We need to start really complaining about not getting upgradable ram. And maybe one manufacturer will bring it back then when they see all the business goes to the company that allows ram upgrades then we win.
Because it's only a matter of time before they start integrate the SSDs. Then we will have stupid fools saying "oh they do that because it's faster". Smfh. No they do it for the exact reason that I need a whole new laptop now just because I need more ram. And it's BS.
Sorry for my rant but yea this computer is not a good deal for 750. Sorry not even close.

My plan is to run Linux on this machine. As for the M6 air, it could be years before folks get Linux running on it, so I shan't wait for it.
