Is the suitcase different than the blow-molded case? A little confusing since the picture no the product selection shows a blow molded case. Beats going to the store, renting a kit only to find its missing o-rings or doesn't seal then having to return it while having charges pending.

I got one of these because I found out monitoring the high pressure side was really required to see how much freon to add. In some cases you can just use the low pressure side and dump some and cross your fingers but really you need to see where the high pressure side goes to. This was just me recharging not diagnosing stuck valves or clogs. Yes it's very much worth it especially how much they charge you for service at a mechanic $$

I have two rules since I am the main breadwinner at home.

Rule 1: Anything requiring over 10 feet, call a professional.

Rule 2: anything that has high pressure or winding tension which could kill or severely injure you even with proper tools. Call a professional. Garage door springs, I call a professional. HVAC pressured pipes issue, I call a professional. Better be safe than sorry.

The price of ac recharge cans is insane these days. Can't imagine what a mechanic would cost to do the job on top of that. DIY is almost becoming a necessity, like the old days. Hopefully this unit is accurate.

What is the advantage of 4-way gauges over 3-way? I just ordered a set of 3-way gauges with a 4cfm pump from Walmart for $85 and I haven't picked it up yet. I could get these 4-way gauges and a 3.5 cfm pump together for $101. I just plan to charge a couple of cars AC and install a mini split when I find one on clearance, would it be better if I get the 4-way gauge set instead?

Strange they have not added the R32 and R454B refrigerant to the scales. My digital ones have had it for a long time.

4-way is includes the vacuum port. If you are just doing charging, then 3-way works, however if you are doing mini-split then you will probably need a vacuum

It just separates your charging/vacuum hose. It has a separate hose and valve for your vacuum pump and charging hose.

You're fine with a 3 hose setup. Just make sure you purge the hose after switching over from the vacuum pump to refrigerant jug.

The 4-way is a bit more convenient, you don't have to disconnect from the vacuum pump then hook up to the refrigerant source. The 4-way also lets you evacuate the charging hose instead of having to waste some refrigerant purging the line.

SucceBuy 4 Way AC Gauge-AC Manifold Gauge Set 5ft Hoses for R134A/R22/R12/R410A Work on Car Auto Freon Charging and Evacuation from AliExpress for $38.11, Mine came out as $35.11 after their mid year sales coupon. As far as I can tell, SucceBuy is Velvor. They even use the same marketing images and videos.

You are correct in that they are one in the same. You'll just have to wait much longer to receive it if buying from Ali.

Is this what I need to finish most of the mini split AC installations where you have to use what looks to be this thing? Refuse to pay hvac guy who will charge $300 just to do that part and if this is the same price to rent it why not.

8000-18000 btu mini split systems are $300-600. hvac guys asking $1000 to install. So planning to DIY.

Tempting but need R-1234yf (who names this stuff??) to check the charge on my car. After a decade the AC only works "ok" despite being under 60k miles.

Good deal for DIY mini-splits if you don't want to pay the premium for pre-charged lines. It's the kind of tool that pays for itself several times over the first time you use it.
