The Fitbit Charge 6 stands out as a compact fitness tracker with strong battery life, heart rate graphs, sleep tracking, and handy watch features like timers, text message previews, and call vibrations. The gold finish is described as easy to pair with many band colors, and replacement bands are widely available. The main concerns are the clunky on device interface, weak Google app integration, and reports of boot loops or hardware failures after about a year. It feels like a capable tracker if the software tradeoffs and longevity risk are acceptable.

And they're making you pay a monthly subscription for it
Only if you want the premium AI-powered analysis. Otherwise, unlike Whoop, you still have some basic functionality and stats-tracking.

I've had a Charge 6 for about 10 months. And it's. . .fine. I use a Whoop MG primarily for health and fitness tracking and got the Charge 6 for a good price. I've considered switching over to Fitbit from Whoop because of the significantly lower cost and because the fitness/sleep tracking seems pretty good. It also has excellent battery life - nearly a week, unlike my previous Samsung Galaxy watches, which I had to recharge every night.
But I do find the Charge 6 interface (on the device) to be pretty clunky and unrefined. If your main interest is step counting and watch functionality, it's solid (but pretty pricey for that alone, even at $80). But the watch faces are largely uninspiring and integration with other Google apps, like Youtube Music, is surprisingly weak.
So. . .overall, not too good, not too bad. The Google Health app is awful: all AI-based walls of text.

Nice, I ordered 2 for my fam! Funny that the gold face is $20 discount over other colors. I'm guessing because they matched it with that ugly red/salmon band. 🙄 The only thing worse would be orange, or maybe yellow? 😜 Gold is gorgeous with Navy, Black, White.. literally anything but red/yellow/orange. Plenty of replacement bands available (& I already have some).
ETA: I see some new comments reporting issues w/this device. I have had one since November, 2023, use it every day & it's never had a problem.
Gold with other band colors. Still ugly?

Fitbit recently switched to using Google health. I hate it! I'm looking to replace my Fitbit with something else because of this.
The layout of the apps are different, but otherwise I don't notice much different between them.

also does this allow me to record by pulse in detail all the time or does it only start working when it decides to work (to save battery)? i basically want to track my pulse all day (with high accuracy) and then have it generate a report of that
It records your heart rate all day, and you can see a graph of it (and can see your current heart rate on the device's screen or in the app). But supposedly it samples your heart rate more frequently when you tell it to actively track an exercise.

These things are garbage and never last more then 1 year. Some die earlier.

You talking about this model specifically? I have the charge 2 for almost 10 years and it still works. The battery lasts just under 7 full days.

I wonder what it feels like to be so confident and wrong at the same time.
