This 10.1 inch Pastigio digital photo frame stands out as a low cost Android touchscreen for basic photo display and tinkering. The promo code has brought the price down to $29.99 with free shipping, and the discount appears to apply per item. It can run locally with local storage or a segmented network, and that makes it appealing for Home Assistant or kiosk style experiments. The main drawback is the locked down firmware, with reports of no ADB connection and no APK sideloading, so advanced installs and internet connected use raise privacy and security concerns.
Common Questions (4)
It runs Android, but the firmware is locked down and ADB/sideloading may not work, so advanced app installs can be blocked. One comment says Home Assistant may be possible, while another says the device cannot be rooted or used for Synology Photos or similar integrations.
Add promo code CTW2J2LA in the cart at checkout, under or near the payment method. The code brings the Prime price from $59.99 to $29.99 with free shipping, and you may need to be logged in for it to apply.
Yes, it can be run locally with photos from local storage, and it can be placed on a no-internet VLAN or segmented network. That avoids relying on the vendor app or exposing the device to the internet.
Yes, the discount appears to apply per item. Increasing the quantity from 1 to 2 increased the discount from about $30 to $59.99, then the order was reduced back to one frame.

I have over a hundred smart devices in my home but I sleep easy at night as my network is segmented where the smart devices cannot access the internet nor my main network. Therefore a device like this poses no risk for me, but for the average user the hacker is waiting for you to connect it.
All my smart devices are linked to my self hosted home assistant and I only use the home assistant app to control my devices.
I also do not buy (or return) smart devices that do not work without internet. Nowadays there is no excuse to make a smart device require internet.
My plan for this device is to put it on the no internet segment (VLAN) and sideload fully kiosk browser that would display my locally hosted photo slideshow.

That is correct I would never install any of these untrusted apps on my phone.

Edit: $30 again and I would bite. $40 with current discount, no thanks.
