RockAuto is no longer bueno IMHO and I don't use them any more. I am definitely not alone in that sentiment based upon various Reddit and YouTuber opinions as well. The bizzare mix of multiple items and multiple warehouse shipping costs coupled with terrible packaging, old/stale parts, broken and/or missing items has just become too frequent with them. If you do go with them be sure to go over your order with a fine tooth comb to look for defects, damage and/or if it is even the right part. Waiting until you actually start working on the vehicle and are past the return policy is where people get the most frustrated. My last order included radiator/heater hoses that were supposedly name brand but they did not have any tags and were so squishy I returned them for a refund. That order also had a new AC condenser that came with a complimentary dent in the top that had perforated the fine mesh coils along the face. The packaging was absolutely fine so it had to have happened at the warehouse. Just sharing my own experiences so YMMV...

This place is the cheapest you can get stuff and more discounts? Yeah, I see complaints about warehouses, and the shipping kills, but I tend to order a bunch of stuff for a few years and.. It definitely works out.

I stopped buying "closeout parts" from Rockauto. All the " warehouse closeouts" I received are either the wrong part or with missing parts, and they are non-returnable. I think these are all customer returns.

Interesting. I scored a Gates 90K39083A serpentine belt kit (full kit with 2 belts, tensioner w/pulley, idler pulley) for $11 about 6 months ago (regular $115), and it arrived brand new and sealed. I couldn't believe the price.

yeah shipping sucks but try to keep it to 1-2 warehouses if its a big order. spend 500$ and the 5% wipes out the 25$ shipping cost. if they have what you need from a trusted brand, it will likely be significantly cheaper than other trusted retailers, and its nice peace of mind that the chain of custody likely means you dont need to think twice about counterfeit parts. cant trust anything from amazon these days, counterfeit aisin waterpumps, ngk sparkplugs, who knows what else..

Let's not forget the crazy high prices at local auto parts stores. When it became apparent that I'd pay 50% to 150% more for the exact same parts, I completely stopped shopping locally. Their pricing has become predatory, and is anything but reasonable.

A couple things I'll add here. First is that there is a mega thread for RockAuto discount codes. Just add your code and expiration as a comment to the thread. It's updated pretty frequently by some folks on here, myself included.

Second, I have been wrenching as both a profession and a hobby for about 25 years now, and there are very few things I will go to Oreilly for outside of something urgent.

I hear all the folks about the paying for shipping, and how it adds up if parts have to ship from multiple warehouses, but the whole catalog helps you avoid that if you use it. Once you've added a part to the catalog, the rest of the parts that will ship from the same warehouse will have a little truck next to them. If you're adding parts that don't have the little truck, there's going to be additional shipping. And sometimes I will if I'm dead set on getting the OE brand (Denso, Hitachi, etc.) vs just the cheapest. The fact that I can choose is a huge win for me.

Lastly, I know it's common to always see "Free Shipping" everywhere these days, but nothing is free. That shopping cost is not being paid by the seller out of the kindness of their hearts, you are paying for it through the margin on the things you buy. RockAuto charging for shipping is because their margin is extremely low, and they would be out of business if they tried to ship everything for free.

Almost invariably, the total cost after shipping, tax, and the usual 5% discount is cheaper than Oreilly, AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.
