It appears these were once made in the USA with US-produced steel. Now, with the same model number, they are made by another company in China. Klein rapidly grew their hand tool business during C19 with their Made-In-USA marketing slogan. Now, as the next-gen family members grow the business, much of their product is made by others in Taiwan and China. More and more, Klein is just a marketing company for Chinese factories, like Cold Steel. For example, anything that has electrical components, anything with plastic, anything with fabric, and now apparently their core line: pliers. All from China

Exceptional price for a USA-made pair of pliers
Im not seeing anywhere, on this page or the manufacturer page, stating these are USA made. Lowes reviews seem to state this is from their made in China line.

From the lowes review: https://photos-us.bazaarvoice.com...0cd94f98ca
It seems these used to be USA made (yellow handles) but they moved to international production (orange handles) while keeping the same model number.

It would be, but these are made in China.

That's why the tool cost $13 and not $50. Or pay 18% more when Lowe's mark it up again.
People forget there's a reason why SOME tools that well made or comes with a good warranty are sold this low.
In this crappy economy and tarrifs on all Chinese stuff, I am saving money if this same tool was made in the USA and I'm only paying $13 or $18 instead of $45 or $50 each if it was made in the USA with American steel where everything here is super expensive because Labour, health insurance, utility bills, packaging materials, fossil fuel and taxes bring the $13 tool to $50 or even more.

Great! I am saving money. I have Chinese built tools that are just as good as the Knipex brand also and id rather pay $78 for 5 sets of these tools instead of $300+ for 5 American made that does the same job effectively with similar or better warranty.

Your perspective was not so clear. Klein, the historic US maker of high-quality pliers, is now rebranding pliers made by others from China. The high-speed equipment that forges and finishes pliers requires very little labor, likely less than a dollar/piece in the US - even with benefits. Is your point that you prefer the Chinese tools?

Personally, I don't care if it's made in China or USA as long as the quality and price point are right.

Chinese products get a bad rep because so many of them are lacking in those departments but they also have great quality products. Just takes some discernment to figure out which ones are; in this case I would expect Klein to have QA to back up their brand since they've built a rep for quality. If not, then they deserve whatever hit they take for selling substandard products.
