I saw an ad campaign on FBMP and signed up, seems to be legit for Cali residents!

Apparently you connect your vehicle account to smartcar(plaid for smart car apps) and it passes the charging session data to this govt sponsored program. For every kWh dispensed outside of your "home address" between 10AM-3PM, you get 20 cents back up to $15/mo plus $25 signup bonus.

The trick is to change your home address to somewhere you wouldn't typically charge. I guess it's a campaign to not waste renewal stored energy or something idk.

You have to charge your car at stations, they don't rebate when you charge your car at your own place.

You set a home address and any place you charge at outside of your home address' geofence gets counted. Level 2 charging should work fine. Hint: sign up with your mom's address

It should work for any smart connected EV, though some require a paid data plan like GM with Onstar.

You still get 20 cents per kilowatt hour back regardless of how much you pay

How do you generate a referral code? There's no link.

Is this site even legit or just harvesting data?

Weird, their FAQ lists Ford as a supported brand.

Supported brands include Tesla, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Audi, Porsche, Volvo, Volkswagen, and more. See the full list at ev.energy/en-us/drivers/integrations.

How about Level 1 charging? Will only net you 26 cents/hour but better than nothing. nod

10am-3pm is usually in the expensive time at CA public charging stations that go by time-of-use pricing, so this is most worth it for those with Level 2 charging at home or if you still have free public charging that came with the car. Even if you don't, the $25 signup bonus alone is worth it.

Going to try it at a little bit of risk but seems minimal. Did have to give up a virtual key and data from the car and utility company, but at work charger is 20 cents a kwh so if this deal is real it will make my first $15 a month free.

Some googling and ai search made it seem like it partnered with 3 californian utilities so if it passed their sniff test than I feel a little better.

They need a link to your utility company too?
