Yea, seems like a great deal, since the drill/driver are Fuel. I bought this and the receipt didn't break out the cost of the ratchet, so I'm not sure this can be "hacked". I don't need the ratchet, so I guess I'll sell that on eBay.

I don't have the M12 surge. Comparing the M18 surge and the regular impact, the regular impact is stronger but the surge is so quiet it's my go to. I almost never grab the regular.

The surge is just quiter than the fuel, but it sacrifices torque.

Just depends on your usage. DiY stuff surge is probably good enough and much more quiet to use. For me though, I don't mind the noise and would rather have the extra torque when needed.

Speed and torque are similar enough, but the Surge is quiet, smooth, and has better finesse. It's a joy to use.
