The reviews for the soldering iron aren't great. But I don't know if they recently updated the model

I have that iron. What negative reviews are you seeing? If you use a battery with a flat base you can just stand it on the battery. I also like how it heats up pretty fast and how you can angle the soldering iron for comfort with the center hinge

I use my soldering iron frequently. Heats up quick and job a great job. It's performs well and I'd buy it again without question!

I have the multitool. I had no use for it til recently. Just bought a home and have used it to cut grout and a few tiles!
Don't use the blade it comes with for anything, but some of the carbide blades are pretty durable

I have the iron - it is awesome! Though the first one died after a few uses, Milwaukee quickly replaced it with a new one. It heats quickly and the LEDs let you know if the tip is still hot. I use it to repair Halloween and Christmas decorations and it's one of my favorite go-to tools. It is easier to use this gun with the wide bottom 5amp batteries compared to the (unstable) smaller batteries - but even if you lay it on its side, there's tabs to keep the tip off the surface.

I got the multi-tool previously because I had other M12 tools, but this multi-tool is not good and I don't recommend it. For one, it doesn't have a tool-free blade change system, you have to unscrew a hex key and use different adapter plates depending on the attachments. That alone is just about a dealbreaker, but on top of that it's too underpowered. It struggled to do small trim cuts and vibrated like mad. If you want a 12V tool, try the Fuel version. I haven't tried that one myself but it at least has tool-free change.
