Eufy was like the anti-ring, and they have done a good job but lately their stuff has just been hit or miss. A lot of time they have issues on their server side and authenticating encryption which sometimes makes viewing live or stored take forever or hang. Many have voiced they should have an option to bypass so it loads faster. Their homebase cripples 2.5ghz networks resulting in having to use bridge mode.

On paper the S4 IS IT.

But the software side doesnt match the hardware.

Check out Tapo C675D, similar but better. I have eufy stuff and holding since im in their eco. No need for homebase if you got great connection and dont need those other gimmicks or not paranoid that you need to store everythign and everything. The onboard seems to be able to hold a lot already. But I will only continue to buy eufy at steep discounts at this point because just dont know what will break next.

Paying $270 each for a camera like this, should simply start planning for a true wired POE system and i dont mean the eufy version of the POE of this.

good points here. My Eufy doorbell takes a while to alert me on my phone and takes a long time for a recording to appear.
What makes the Tapo C675D better? do you use use it with any home automation/assistant like Apple HomeKit/Alexa etc?

You're 100% right.
I'm already deep into the Eufy ecosystem, and the S4 Pro is actually the one camera I've been tempted to upgrade to (Integration with matter and apple devices). What's stopping me is the price and the mixed reviews. On paper, it looks incredible, but I've seen enough reports of failures and reliability issues to make me hold off.
For now, I'm sticking with my S340s, E42s, and S330 doorbell. The ecosystem has been solid for me overall, and I like that it just works without requiring a lot of tweaking.
What really bothers me is Eufy's pricing lately. I currently have around 12-14 cameras and 3 HomeBases (mostly because some deals included an extra HomeBase in the bundle). At these prices, expanding the system becomes hard to justify.
The crazy part is that other brands seem to be following Eufy's lead instead of competing on price. If Tapo, Wyze, or another brand released similar-quality cameras in the $100-$150 range, they'd sell a ton. Most homeowners need at least 5-6 cameras, and even apartment dwellers usually end up with 2-3 devices. Price them right and people will buy multiple units.
Looking specifically at the S4 Pro, I would've bought it without hesitation at $100-$150. At $250-$299 per camera, it's just too much for me, especially with the reliability concerns being reported.

Warranty wise ? They have been phenomenal too, its anker, that i have to give it to them even when warranty expires.

I used to be all into integration with assistants etc, but I just stopped letting other hands in the cookie jar. I just use the app. Especially with Eufy's dodgy app and server authentication encryption that takes forever, it just makes things even slower or jsut completely broken when I use it with google home integration. It's setup but I never use it. I just open the app. So basically I just keep things simple and never use the integration. Time it takes for me to say alexa, hey google, open this that etc. I already swiped and opened the app. But thats just me. I know many who cant live without integrating everything and anything into whatever they use.

Anyways as for the C675D, just go on youtube and search reviews for it. its cheaper, faster, does a 24/7 type recording EVEN on their solar only. And it supports 5ghz.

I'm just glad the eufy still records even when a lot of times it wont bring up live feed or the recordings right away. I would be fine with the eufy if bringing up live view and recordings reliably and consistently. I refuse to pay anything more than $100 for eufy stuff. I waited for the s340 (which looks like the one this S4 replaced) until it was $90-100/new at costco. I'll do the same with the S4 if it ever gets down to $100 and i havnt fully switched to just getting POE

I would get this S4 if it ever goes down to $100 like the s340 did. At 150+ im seriously looking at POE, especially if I start needing more cameras

Warranty wise I did have an s340 that stop holding charge. It was just right after warranty. they kept saying it was the panel, sent a new one and still didnt hold charge. Good thing I got it at costco, so that was returned

They need to start supporting 5ghz also like tapo

Agree with everyone else here. I use lots of Eufy products and have used their cameras for years but I'm buying my way out of their camera ecosystem because their app is terrible. Good luck if you want to actually try and playback anything. Takes forever, if it even decides to let you watch at all

I have 4 of this cameras, homebase 3 and the Smart Display E10. I love this cameras but is as others says, app is slow and sometime I lost connection with the cameras. I have 4 DECO Mesh wifi 7 system with strong signal that works crossing the street, but for some reasons cameras are slow to load or even connecting.
