Can you string these together in Series to get 48v?

I bought a pair of Eco-Worthy batteries less than a year ago to run in series. One recently suffered a confirmed manufacturing defect. Eco-Worthy acknowledged the defect and confirmed it was well within the warranty window, but refused to send a free, matching replacement.
As we all know, putting a mismatched battery into a series bank compromises the whole system. Eco-Worthy explicitly admitted this in writing, stating that a matched production batch is a necessity for consistent performance.
Instead of honoring the warranty by providing an exact match or refurbished unit at no cost, they weaponized this technical necessity into a sales pitch. They offered a "goodwill BOGO deal" on their latest, more expensive model: they would give me a matched pair, but only if I paid out of pocket for one of them.
To get a "free" warranty replacement for a defective product under a year old, I was forced to buy a second battery I didn't need, at a higher price than my original purchase. They essentially held my broken system hostage until I agreed to buy more product.
I bought it under protest just to get my rig back online, but consider this a heads-up. If you run a multi-battery bank, Eco-Worthy's warranty policy is designed to extract more cash from you when their product fails.
