I need Kasa/Tapo to offer adjustable ceiling fan only. I have a separate light and fan switches. I guess maybe I can wire some how wire both to this and put a blank plate on the eisting light switch. Any suggestions?

Something like this would work although personally I find blanking plates tacky/suspicious looking.

I was confused when TP-Link released this switch as to why they combined the fan/light functionality into a single switch, given that they sell a Kasa dimmer switch.

I use Lutron Caseta fan controllers, although they cost almost double what this combo switch costs:

Yes. I was looking at this one and the Leviton version. I just wanted to stay in the same ecosystem, since I have some many Kasa devices.

I hear ya. I have a number of TP-Link Kasa on/offs, dimmers, and 3 ways in the house and they've been great. I invested in the Lutron stuff as it helped me solve some switching problems in our ~60YO house, using their Pico remotes. All of our 7 paddle fans with light kits are using Lutron Caseta fan controllers, as I added two gang boxes with separate fan/light switching when I added the bedroom ceiling fans before smart homes were even a thing. I am slowly converting everything over to Lutron's smart Diva dimmers and Claro on/offs, as time and budget allows. The Lutron stuff that's Pico activated will all still work after we sell the house (pedestal mounted bedside Pico remotes to control fans and lights in the bedrooms, Pico wall mounted remotes to turn on/off hallway and living room lighting).

I likely would have gone with a TP-Link Kasa fan controllers if they didn't combine the light switch with it - an odd choice IMHO for TP-Link to combine them in a single gang switch.
