Blink Outdoor 4 and the Battery Doorbell 2K+ are best for simple, battery powered monitoring of hard to reach spots like basements, crawlspaces, and occasional appliance checks. The cameras are praised for long battery life and flexible placement, and the doorbell can ring an existing chime through the app. The main catch is storage and alerts, since this bundle's included Sync Module Core is cloud only and recording clips or getting full features requires a subscription. Sync Module 2 works for local USB recording, but it is not included here.

  • Sync Module 2 can enable local USB recording without a subscription for compatible Blink devices.

  • The bundle can still provide live viewing even when cloud recording requires a subscription.

  • Blink Outdoor 4 can be useful for occasional monitoring of hard-to-reach areas like basements and sump pumps.

  • The doorbell and cameras can be paired with Sync Module 2 automatically after setup.

  • The included Sync Module Core in this package can be cloud-only and may not support USB local storage or microSD recording.

  • Cloud clip storage and advanced features can require a Blink subscription after the 30-day trial.

  • Battery-powered placement can become impractical in high-activity areas due to frequent battery replacement.

  • Recording may not be continuous, so events occurring between captures can be missed.

"Camera compatible with all Blink Sync Modules."- meaning this can be used with sync modules with non-cloud storage. Subscription not needed.
For this deal without buying anything else it requires a cloud subscription if you want to store clips.

I wish you guys stop posting that Blink requires a subscription. It does not. You can utilize every feature without a subscription except the newly added Smart AI. The only thing that does it tell you what your notifications are without you viewing the video. It doesnt even do a good job it thinks my dog is a cat or a different breed Everytime. If you want to know someone walked by in a white shirt or a red car drove by without seeing the video then sure pay the subscription for it. If you have one camera and you want extended view then you need a subscription for that. Or your camera will time out and you have to pull it back up to view again. Nothing in the subscription is necessary. Everything works and functions on all cameras without it. I have currently 12 blink cameras a mixture of outdoor, blink minis, door bell trust me I'm not paying for anything to use them. I've been using blink for over 5 years now. the one feature that comes with a subscription that makes me want to get it is the continuous playback which links videos from all your cameras into one playback reel. that part is actually cool but still not worth it for me to subscribe lol. I just enjoy it for the trial period whenever I add a camera.
With just the sync module core can I view video playback recorded anywhere? That's what we're asking about.

You can store the videos from your phone instead if you have the module that doesn't have the SD card. I have both modules and even still I don't use it. I can easily archive my videos right from my phone and save them that way.
Can you please explain more as so many here have this concern. How do you (manually) save/record on your phone when the camera detects an activity. Does the app give you a notification with an option to view the activity and just save whatever was watched? If we ignore the notification, is it gone and can't be saved?

I have the original blink which has life-time free sub, so does this work with it, i.e. recordng clips online without subscription?

Blink is owned by Amazon and is a part of Ring. They have a partnership with Flock and videos are sent to law enforcement. These are basically Flock cameras that you install for them in your house.

Yeah Amazon has been thoroughly corrupted at this point there's no denying that. But if you use the Blink cameras for basements, crawlspaces or difficult to reach outside areas where hard wired closed circuit cameras would be impractical you can make good use of these IMO.

Besides, placing the Blink cameras in high traffic areas would eventually costs you a small fortune buying replacement lithium batteries. Although there are rechargeable lithium AAs that you can buy that might work I surmise. You can also hardwire the doorbell via an existing wired doorbell hookup or usb for the Outdoor 4 cams

Overall; getting a decent camera that you can use to monitor your sump pump or water heater occasionally plus alert you to wet and wild calamities for $10 is a remarkable deal IMO. As for the doorbell; I don't mind if someone is spying on my front street or on strangers ringing the bell but I can empathize with those that do....

Order, try, and return if it doesn't. Blink deserves the return for two main reasons:
1. Selling a product with vague details
2. Cunningly designing a product to force a subscription

Simply put, yes and no 😂. How these work are the cameras send data to the sync module. This specific sync module and most of (not all) of the ones currently included in their bundles is not compatible with local storage and only uses the cloud. To save video it does require a subscription for cloud storage. You can still view the live feed and even use your phones screen recording to save anything live without a subscription. Alternativly, you can simply buy a sync module XR for fairly cheap and use a micro sd card or a sync module 2 (older technology) and use a usb.
