I would stay away from Winix even how cheap they are. I have C545 model and after a few years, the motor started to make a whirring noise even at the lowest speed. It is a common issue with Winix models. I bought 3 Coway Airmega 200M and they are much quiet.

He cannot test the long-term performance, that is the issue.

I bought 2 Coway 200M pre covid, gave 1 to my sister and they been running strong with no noise on speed 1 since day 1. I also run 3 Airmega 250, bought 2 in 2021, still silence at speed 1. People can test performance all they want, but only time will tell when it come longevity.
I currently run 4 Coway at my place, I need 4 since I'm sensitive to noise so it will take a couple of them to work when running at speed 1.

5530 is all the same mechanically except a different color and slightly different front plate.
And same here as you. Got two of the 5510 version (the new 5500-2 they say) that was on sale for $123 via Amazon recently, and both have subtle fan rattling. It sounded like it was rubbing against something and is noticeable at lower fan speeds. As someone who is sensitive to sound, it can be an annoyance. As a reference point, I also have the OG 5500 model, the one that has the remote and white colored, and even that was quieter than the new 5510, no rattling and many many years on it. Also have the Costco 610 version and that one does not make the rattling sound.

Agreed, as an air purifier, it definitely is a good product in its class. As for the fan bearing issue, unless you put your ear to it or use it long term, I don't think he goes as far as rating that unless it's overwhelmingly obvious, or he just does another follow up video 1 year later. Otherwise much respect for Project Farm though, I do value his reviews because that's far more than I'd do in my lifetime haha.
My 2 cents here though…my experience as shared in one of my posts in this thread are my two 5510 units exhibited fan rattling sounds out of the box, but it's subtle to the ears. However I can attest that isn't normal since I have similar units, one the OG 5500 and the Costco's 610, neither that exhibit the fan issue whether old or new. Might be a bad batch but definitely doesn't help with its historical reputation on bad fan bearings. If you're sensitive to noise or very particular about it, I'd stay far away from these 5510, 5520, 5530 models unless you have good warranty backing it up or return policy.

I agree with their strongly. I had 3 of them, all of which developed incredibly annoying sounds after a year or two. I replaced one with a different model which makes a different annoying sound but right out of the box. When I'm out of filters these all go in the trash

I've used Winix for years, and run them 24/7. Never had this happen.
