Bought this a few years ago. The wood handle sucks. It will eventually crack and fall apart.

I prefer the stainless steel steak weights, they're a solid piece so no rivets to catch food and grease, and they can be thrown in the dishwasher afterwards. Serious Eats recommends the Winco SWS-74 (it has a removable silicone sleeve for the handle).

when I was young and broke, I had a brick and aluminum foil. LOL I don't need this anymore because burgers taste better juicy and except for grilled cheese I don't squish anything.

I agree with the post about the wood handle but you can also condition it and it will last a little longer. I started using some cutting board wax stuff for it and the new one I got has lasted a lot longer.
