The next summer I bought a powered one.
Powered dethatcher (I use the Greenworks, tho SunJoe, Wen and a few others make comparable) for sure easiest if I have to do entire lawn, which is about every three years or so.
Am usually doing smaller areas (like tonight) of under 800 sqft and my go-to has been the Groundskeeper 2 rake:
- Amazon: https://a.co/d/09fFVcXi
- HD: https://www.homedepot.c
I also have a dethatching rake from Ames (https://www.homedepot.c
I put the Groundskeeper right in between a normal yard rake and a dethatcher WRT its dethatching capability (something about its tines) -- plus you get the bonus of being able to use it like a normal rake, since that's what it really is. Would buy again in a heartbeat if I ever needed another rake.

My corded deatcher costs me more in cords than the detatcher itself.
