Probably not. They just use some Chinese maker. This isn't like their old amps guitar players love

Small sample size, but the Marshall BT player I heard punched above its weight for sound. I consider myself an audiophile too.

Emberton II was released in 2022. The new version Emberton III was released in 2024 and it's the same price for the next 3 hours (as of this post).

Their consumer-level products are solid. Maybe not the best, but definitely not just a cheap rebrand.

The biggest gotcha with Marshall Bluetooth speakers is that they only support the SBC Bluetooth codec, the bare-bones lowest denominator codec that can yield high latency and lower sound quality.

Emberton 3 has AAC and LC3 as well.

Thank you. I hadn't looked at the Emberton III yet. Very happy to hear Marshall is enhancing their product features. Here's hoping they add LDAC at some point.

My $20 Anker soundcore 2 has been running strong for 5 years outdoor under abuse of 100 degree direct sunlight and kids throwing it in and out of the pool, it's ridiculously strong, the sound is amazing for $20, although it used to sound better when it was new, but not bad now, I'm curious to try this but can't justify the $100 for it

Just a fair warning or rather PSA... The Emberton 2 can be paired to another of the same, the Emberton 3 CANNOT pair to another speaker, even the same model. If that matters to you, this one here with the Emberton 2 is the deal to get. I've also read that the sounds on the 2 is better than the 3, but of course that is subjective to the individual listener.

That said, I've always wondered how the Emberton 2 compares to my Sound Core Motion+ BT speaker which I've had since 2021... It's a great speaker, stereo sound from a pair of tweeters and woofers, and the bass punches well out of it's weight.

Was about to mention anker soundcore but you beat me to it. This $100 product has a similar form factor to the soundcore and makes me wonder if that's what it is but with fancier name brand stuff

The Marshall audio brand and Marshall Amplification are owned by the Marshall Group, which is majority-owned by the Beijing-based private equity firm HongShan Capital. The founding Marshall family retains a minority stake of over 20% in the company.
