Tempting, does seem to make a lot less noise at the cost of some power. Not sure if it's time to retire the rigid one tho (6hp NXT model). Guess it really comes down to your use cases ? Construction site or multi purpose ( like cars more than drywall debris )

It's powerful and somewhat quieter than a regular shop-vac, but I had to return it. The hose is very stiff, and doesn't rotate well, along with being an odd size and have a weird/weak attachment clip. There is no onboard tool storage, just a mesh bag you have to figure out what to do with, and the extension tubes don't fit inside of. The crevice tool has a stupid design so you cannot get full suction while using it. The nail in the coffin for me was the hose storage rubber strap broke on the second use.

It's dumb it doesn't have onboard tool storage, but that seems to be becoming th borm. All the deals I've seen on these recently had no storage. But, I rarely use anything but the crevice tool anyway so not a big deal imo. The hose is nice, not sure why other person said it was stiff, its better than the plain corrugated plastic ones. Crevice tool also seems tone to me.

Sorry but it's signficantly quieter than a regular shop vac. A regular shop vac is around 80 decibels and this one is 65 decibels. That's equivalent to background music vs what the inside of an airplane (or a shop vac) would sound like. 15 dba reduction is huge and significant.

Your other point about storage is valid (and it's frustrating owning this vac) but to say it's not significantly quieter than a regular shop vac is flat out wrong.

You're right, I didn't realize it was 15 DB quieter than an average shop-vac. I edited my comment accordingly.

To be fair, I used it outdoors, immediately after using my pro-series shop-vac that's 1.5 HP larger, and I just felt that it was still quite loud. Indoors, it was absolutely much louder than background music. Unless you'e accustomed to background music blaring! I don't have a decibel meter, and I know the attachments and load change the pitch, but for me, a former car detailer who's used a lot of wet/dry vacs and extractors, it's just not quiet enough to deal with all the other frustrations. If I needed to use it indoors all the time, I would maybe deal with its other issues.

Side note, I think the hose attachment point is absolutely going to break within a year.

3d printing to the rescue for attachment storage!

You clearly haven't used many wet/dry vacuums if you think the hose on this is "nice" and that the crevice tool is fine. The crevice tool is far too thick, and it's notched at the top which means you can't use full suction. Look at other crevice tools, they aren't shaped that way for a reason. Try the Ridgid orange hoses and you'll never want to use this one again. Also just an fyi, all other quality wet/dry vacuum brands feature tool storage in models at or below this price range. Just because you're seeing this exact same vacuum or models in this line pop up with no storage does not make it the norm.

I also have a ridgid 6hp with orange hose that was purchased separately, and it feels the same to me. Enjoy your nitpicking, crevice tool is fine too imo.

How is this for dust collection via a shop vac? I know it's not a true "dust collector". I'm looking for a dedicated but adaptable/slightly portable shop vac for dust collection.

Enjoy your overpriced rebranded Stanley vacuum that's going to break much earlier than a Shop-Vac and be far less enjoyable to use until then. Cheers!

Since it's from Costco I can take it back if that's the case! Hope your fathers day is awful as you!

I'd rather buy something once than keep returning junk, I'm surprised your time isn't valuable to you.
