The Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 (Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake) processors were officially released in late 2024, with the mobile processors launching on September 3, 2024 and desktop processors launching on October 24, 2024.

this laptop model might have come out in 2025, but the processor was from 2024.

Help me understand that this HP-specific model is release on Jan 2026. And Ultra 7 is the most selected or performance-oriented processor so far. especially with long battery life and no heating issues, as you see in Ultra 9. Finally, the deal price is the best I could find anywhere for Ultra 7. Correct me if I'm wrong. thanks!

Not a bad deal. But not great neither. But because of the inflated SSD / ram prices it's hard to find great deals.
For $750 I got an ultra 9, OLED, 24gb ram, and 2tb SSD, and a 3060.
I upgraded the ram to the max (because it had one slot which was the main reason I bought the laptop. The other was 8gb integrated so it was half half bs)
So I bought a 48gb crucial ddr5 to bump it up to 56 gb.
I got so lucky I bought that module for 80 bucks. When I was curious how much it cost I looked in my Amazon and last I checked that same module was selling for 600 dollars. Absolutely insane! Almost the price I paid for the entire laptop.

So in conclusion lol, yea it's tough times to get a great deal on a computer and I just happened to get super lucky with my timing.

But tbh I would make getting 32gb ram a priority now because all this junk is non upgradable now so my portable work laptop a Lenovo yoga is perfectly great laptop but has only 8gb ram. So now I'm looking into upgrading that computer only because I need more ram. Everything else about the computer is perfect.
I hate this integrated ram bs!

Yea ur right about the ultra 9 heating issues. Random cores on my laptop go 100 degrees just doing basic stuff. It's pretty annoying. But it is fast. I'm not complaining because it perform well but I concur that ulta 9 does get hot

my only issue with this laptop is the 16gb ram. and mediocre SSD space. ssd can be upgraded but the ram your stuck with.
so I would prioritize getting at least 32 because you don't want to get stuck having to replace a perfectly great laptop just because it doesn't have enough ram to multitask in the near future.
I have a Lenovo yoga (my portable computer I use for work). and it is great computer except it has only 8gb ram and not upgradable so now I am looking for a new laptop to replace it and it's really annoying because if they just added slots I could simply just upgrade the ram and be happy.

Any suggestions for a freshman in high-school needing a laptop for school?

2K on a 16" is tough on the eyes for some people... definitely consider viewing in person first, higher res is not always better on laptops

You can just increase the display scaling percentage, shouldn't make a difference compared to a lower resolution 16" display then.

I own this model with intel ultra 5 variant with the same 16" 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) screen.

when a laptop screen gets to 16" in size and you sit close to it, it gets pixelated/ "grainy"

Calling it a 2k screen is marketing fluff. its really just a 1080p / Full HD screen that have been around for years. it has a little more vertical height roughly 10% more than your typical 16:9 ratio (this screen is 16:10)

screen is ok and its useable if its your daily driver. If you're coming from a higher resolution screen you will notice the grainy text / haze on videos and websites.
