I am not sure if this is related to your post but I can attest the most recent (1-2 years or so) versions chafe me like no other during vacations where a lot of walking is involved. I'd also say they also pill a bit more and have less stretchy waist-bands after a year or so. You can literally feel the difference in the texture of the fabric between those that were the previous versions vs those that are more recent. Just sharing my opinion. I won't buy any more of them...
