Opinions on how well this works? Does it hog system resources like Norton, etc? Thanks.

Hate to be that guy, but NextDNS is $20/yr without any device limits, and can be used on essentially every device in existence and is fully customizable.
Also has timed parental controls, ad and tracker blocking, etc

EDIT: Not sure why this is getting downvoted 🤷🏻 it's generally just a more solid product. I've been using it for a few years now and have it installed on over 20 devices.

Half your legit sites are blocked if you use nextdns. I set this up on my router and in 2 days i had nothing but false positives. It's too restrictive. For Network level blocking use Pi-hole (self hosted)

You got to get it configured correctly and find the right balance of blocking and allowing. Not all lists are maintained the same. I'm on team NextDNS

You've not configured it correctly then. It's fully customizable with hundreds of different filter lists to choose from, as well as custom deny/allow list options. The default configuration works pretty well, but you can tweak it to exactly how you'd like it.
There's also a free tier if you just want to try it out...

AdGuard, or any similar offering like NextDNS, isn't a virus protection/security product. Sure, it can help filter out and block malicious websites, but it's not going to be offering any on-device security scanning/threat protection or anything like that.
