Yeah I would be totally happy with an M3 as my daily driver but it just feels like this should be cheaper since it's 2 gen behind

The value retention of MacBooks is insane. M5 Air has been on sale for $949 lately and even $899 briefly. Am I missing something why the M4 Air for $100 less is noteworthy?

It's even worse. This is M3.

TBH, M3 isn't bad, though. It can run everything you want. It's just 2 generations behind.

Agreed. I dont think this is much of a deal. We've seen a few M4 and M5 deals for literally $50 more in recent weeks... 2 more years of updates and support for $50 is a no brainer.
