Netgear and Cisco routers have had far more damaging vulnerabilities. There are also the allegations that Netgear "intentionally" put backdoor in their routers and that Netgear lobbied the US government to get TP-Link banned.

Know nothing about routers. Would this be good for a 1600sqft 2 story house? Of course got all our smart devices connected to it but also go Wireless security camera that'll be connected to it at all times.

Solid router. Been using one for about a year with no issues. Only gripe is wifi range isn't the best; it more or less matches my old netgear nighthawk that it replaced.. internal vs external antennas seem like the most likely culprit.

I did see Asus have a security disclosure page and updates per CVEs disclosed, but sadly there are so many brands that currently have security backdoors that it is hard to find any that don't seem to carry a good engineering backing. The companies seem to carry incompetence or negligence, or maybe that engineers and user-centric development aren't at the leading edge of the company versus business metrics.

You may be better off with a mesh network if you can run a cat6 cable for the wired backhaul.

Was going to get the Pro version of this, but with our current administration, I didn't want to chance buying a future brick.

I went with the Asus BE92U, which is fine if you don't plan on using mesh, it causes a ton of instability. As a single router it's been fantastic.

I understand you don't want foreign companies in u.s agency or companies. But avg consumer. China doesn't care. The most is the are collecting your shopping habits

Even then, the router can't see much anyway. Basically the name of the website you're connecting to (but nothing after /), how many connections, and how much data transferred if it's using HTTPS which is basically everything nowadays
Slightly more concerning is the router has a backdoor it could let someone into your local network so anything without a password or with a security vulnerability could be more easily accessed.
Mostly it's a dumb thing to worry about since a backdoor in anything on your network with Internet access can do the same thing. If you're really worried, stop buying cheap crap from Slickdeals and go get Mikrotik or Ubiquiti or DIY
