The msrp is bogus, but I'll take the deal for astercook. $40 on amazon so I like saving $17. But bamboo is not good for raw meat IMO

I feel like my past investigation was that it's good for meat and your knives... as long as it was well assembled and used the right kind of glue. That said i only use bamboo for veggies, bread and as a serving board.

FYI bamboo is really hard on your knife edges, so... keep a honing steel nearby.
