meanwhile, I'm also in the middle of trying to replace all my govee smart bulbs with zigbee ones too - I love the govee hardware, but HATE that they connect to their cloud infrastructure - I want everything in my home to be local - just the device over whatever network protocol directly into home assistant. (i'm using home assistant, but i'm not married to it, there are a whole bunch of convenient smart home systems out there like home, apple homekit, or even just using alexa or google home if you really want to keep things simple). I'm really not big on cloud services though.
Oh and another 10+ cameras, routers, etc.

Just a note: Google Home doesn't natively support Zigbee, so they can't communicate directly with Zigbee devices without a Zigbee bridge (or coordinator). I assume it is the same for Alexa and Apple.
I got two of the Linkind Matter bulbs and they are HORRIBLE! Pairing was fine, but after that it went downhill. Avoid Linkind.
