This iBUYPOWER Y40 pairs a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with a Radeon RX 9070 XT, making it a strong high end gaming prebuilt for 1440p and a long term main machine. The 32GB DDR5 memory is 5200MHz in a 2x16GB setup, which is slower than some earlier 6000MHz offers but still considered fine for gaming with an X3D chip. It is also liquid cooled and fitted with a better power supply. The main caution is build quality, since the system should be checked for proper assembly and seating, and there is a report of a unit arriving used and badly packed.
Gamers building a long-term primary PC, because the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RX 9070XT combo is strong and the liquid cooling plus better power supply add headroom.
Players who want a ready-to-use 1440p rig, because the CPU and GPU pairing is considered a good combo and the system is cheaper than building it yourself.
This configuration comes with 32GB DDR5-5200 in a 2x16GB setup. That is slower than DDR5-6000, but it is still considered fine for gaming with an X3D CPU.
Yes. The 9800X3D + RX 9070XT combo is viewed as a strong price for a prebuilt, and it can be cheaper than building the same system yourself. The main tradeoff is the included DDR5-5200 memory instead of faster DDR5-6000.
Yes. The system should be checked for proper assembly and seated parts, because one reported unit arrived used, poorly packed, and badly damaged. A quick inspection on arrival can help catch shipping or build issues before the return window closes.
Yes, this build is described as liquid cooled and equipped with a better power supply. Those upgrades make it more appealing than some other prebuilts at similar prices.
Beware! Bought one of these a couple weeks ago and what areov d was a giant pile of shit that had clearly been used and not packed right. Totally busted and had to immediately return.
Almost went for this, but ended up springing for the Andromeda Insights 9600x/16GB/9070XT from Newegg instead. With current prices, 9600x (170 on amz) vs 9800x3d is (433 on amz) roughly $260 difference, and DDR5 6000 16GB ($200 for cheapest according to pcpp) vs DDR5 5200 32GB ($360 for cheapest according to pcpp) is roughly $160 difference. So for the value, the extra $250 gets you $410 worth of extra hardware.
So if this is going to be your only machine for a long time, definitely worth getting. But if it's just a sub gaming machine, then the other one should do perfectly fine even at 1440p for the most part (of course depending on settings, etc.)
I just saw a few iBUYPOWER models on clearance at the Walmart down the road. picture or it did not happen! No way those specs are sold below $1k.
Not a bad deal at all, I would purchase if I didn't already have something similar/better. Just have to make sure they built the computer and seated all the parts correctly.
