I have no idea how good these reels are.

These are decent... I have both of these (the baitcaster and the spinning reels). They were previously branded Quantum. The baitcaster is perfectly serviceable, even for beginners... roughly on par with a Black Max. The spinning reel is very nice indeed... as smooth as my Regal LT, but bigger and heavier. Holds way more line though.

A buddy of mine that's big into fishing said Zebco is considered disposable in the fishing industry and apparently not something he's ever used. He suggested a Daiwa reel that's $70 instead. He's apparently like fishing the way I am about guns I guess.

I figure for me and the kids these will do just fine paired with some cheap rods from the flea market fishing store and if they decide to be the next Jeremy Wade then we'll look into building rigs for targeting certain species or whatever.

And, if anyone wants a rod that matches up well and is also branded Zebco (if that matters to you):

I picked up a few to replace old setups. Minimum was $75 for me to get free shipping though.

I'd consider myself pretty big into fishing. I have rod and reel combos over $1k, but that's not to say a $10 reel can't be just fine and not to say I won't fish a $10 reel. It's a $10 reel, but retail is $45. I guess my comment was I have no idea if this is worth retail price. There are plenty of good reel options under $20. Zebco is fine as a brand, I wouldn't say they are disposable, most fishing gear will only last as well as you treat it. Of course if the gears inside are plastic, then sure this is disposable, but I doubt that.I just picked up some Temu rods for $9 each and these will be perfect for them. I'll throw one in my truck, test it out and or give it away to a kid fishing at some point.

Yep, your thinking is my thinking.

I bought two rods for store pickup at my local Sportsman's Warehouse that was listed on here for a deal. I'll pick up both items tomorrow and some line and have two rods ready to go for the kids to play with.

All stores around me had one baitcaster left. Bought the last one at closest store. Thanks.
