DDR5 costs a LOT more, but only a bit faster in general

Comparing the i7 vs i9 cpu , the price is about $100 less for the i7 using same coupon code.
So far the Youtube reviews I've seen so far, seem very positive for general use, office, web browsing. But barely usable for VERY low-end gaming.

Gemini ai comparison:
If your primary goal is gaming and everyday computing, the Core i7-14650HX offers excellent performance and is generally the more cost-effective choice. However, if you regularly run heavy production workloads like video production, 3D environment design, or code compilation, upgrading to the Core i9-14900HX is justified for the significant boost in multi-threaded speed.
  • Single-Threaded Performance & Gaming: The i9-14900HX hits a higher turbo clock speed of 5.8 GHz compared to the 5.2 GHz on the i7-14650HX. This yields an 8–10% speed advantage in tasks that rely heavily on a single core. In mainstream gaming, you will rarely notice a frame rate difference unless you are running highly CPU-bound simulation games or playing at very low resolutions to push maximum frame rates.
  • Multi-Threaded Performance: This is where the gap widens. Thanks to its 16 efficient cores (versus 8 on the i7), the i9 achieves roughly 25–30% faster performance in synthetic benchmarks like Cinebench or PassMark. If your workflow involves heavy multi-core tasks—such as software compiling, 4K video editing, or complex 3D modeling—the i9 will finish tasks noticeably quicker.
Recommendation

Do not buy this specific Mini PC if your primary intention is local, native PC gaming. If you love the small form factor but want to play modern games, look for a Mini PC featuring an AMD Ryzen processor with Radeon 780M or 890M integrated graphics (which perform significantly better in games), or choose a slightly larger Mini PC that explicitly includes a dedicated laptop GPU (like an RTX 4060 or 4070).
What to Expect Across Different Gaming Tiers
  • AAA Modern Gaming (Cyberpunk 2077, Helldivers 2, Alan Wake 2): Virtually unplayable at normal settings. Even lowering the resolution to 720p with lowest-quality settings will struggle to provide smooth or stable frame rates, because the integrated Intel UHD graphics chip only has 32 Execution Units (EUs) designed for basic display outputs, not heavy 3D rendering.
  • Competitive & Esports Gaming (League of Legends, Valorant, CS:GO): Fully playable but with adjustments. You can expect smooth, playable performance (around 60+ FPS) at 1080p resolution with low-to-medium graphics settings. These games rely heavily on CPU speed, where the core i9 excels, rather than intense graphical processing.

Minecraft?

Yes, both can play Minecraft perfectly fine. While the ACEMAGIC M5 Mini PC struggles with heavy 3D modern games due to lacking a dedicated graphics card, Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions are highly CPU-dependent. The massive processing speed of the Core i9-14900HX easily compensates for the integrated graphics.
What to Expect in Minecraft
  • Vanilla (Unmodded) Gameplay: You can expect smooth performance right out of the box. At standard 1080p resolution with a modest render distance (around 10–12 chunks), vanilla Minecraft will easily run at 60 to 100+ FPS.
  • With Optimization Mods (Highly Recommended): If you install performance-boosting mods like Sodium and Lithium (on the Fabric loader), performance will skyrocket. The insane processing power of the i9 will push the game to 200–400+ FPS even on integrated graphics, making it incredibly smooth.
  • Heavy Modpacks: The M5 Mini PC will handle large, CPU-heavy modpacks (like ATM9 or RL Craft) surprisingly well because it features 32GB of RAM and massive single-core speed. You just need to ensure you allocate 6–8GB of RAM to Minecraft in your launcher settings.
  • Shaders: This is the main limit. Because shaders rely heavily on actual graphics card rendering pipelines, running complex shader packs (like BSL or SEUS) will tank the frame rate down to an unplayable 15–20 FPS on this integrated Intel chip. If you want beautiful lighting and water reflections, you will have to pass on them here.
Summary Verdict

If you or someone else wants this mini PC primarily for office work, coding, or emulation, but wants to hop onto a Minecraft server or play a modded world on the side, it will handle it beautifully. Just don't buy it expecting to run realistic graphics shaders.

I need a new office computer. Was thinking of getting a refurbished pc run Amazon but saw this. Currently using a Amazon warehouse refurbished dell optiplex from 2006 that I've maxed out the ram and put Ssd. It runs... OK but can update to win 11. It's definitely, not as fast as it used to be haha.

Do many mini pc out there. I really need dual screen and I think the video out here can do dual screen.

I still have a hard time finding a use for these unless you have single core bound professional work to do that doesn't need a gpu. AMD integrated graphics smoke these for less money if you want to game. These also get hot as fark, and use more power.

Other than the CPU, this is kind of low end. Thr DDR4. No Oculink or USB4. No dual NIC. PCIe gen 3 for the second NVMe slot. No PCIe Gen5. This little machine may seem like a deal, and it probably is for specific people, but the company is making good money on it too.

It can do 3 displays, but one of the connections is the front USB C port. It supports display port output.

14900hx processor suffers from the same voltage and Vmin shift degradation. Also, anything is AceMagic is a hard NO. After the whole fiasco with baked malware/spyware back in 2024. My go to is Minisforum or Beelink.

Strong processor and integrated GPU, but the I/O is pretty barebones. I don't understand only providing a single gigabit NIC and lone USB-C port on it, and even that is only 10 GBPs. By comparison I have a Minisforum NPB7 with a 13th gen processor and similar form factor, but with two 2.5 gig NICs, dual USB4 40 Gbps, etc. One thing this does have is a second m.2 slot, but with storage prices what they are I am not sure how many people are going to populate it.

These mini pc's are hamstrung just like laptops are. I have a 12450H and many cores are parked when I do video editing...

Unless you're one of those who mods the heatsink or whatever else.
