This open box 1TB Sony PS5 with disc drive can land as a solid way to get the slim model for far less than new, especially when an Excellent unit is available for shipping or pickup. The console has arrived working fine for some orders, and the disc, 1TB version is a useful upgrade path for existing PS5 owners who want more storage or a second system. Condition is the main risk, though, with reports of missing stands, damaged shells, broken clips, failed power, crashes, and units that turn off after a short time. It is a deal that rewards close inspection and patience.

  • The open-box listing can deliver a slim disc 1TB PS5 at a lower out-the-door price than new.

  • Some shipped open-box units arrive cosmetically good and function normally after delivery.

  • Stock availability can change quickly, so daily checking may eventually surface an Open-Box Excellent option for shipping.

  • The console can serve as a current PS5 or as a way to update or expand storage on an existing PS5.

  • Best Buy open-box PS5 units can arrive with heavy damage or signs of rough handling.

  • Open-box condition ratings can still come with missing accessories or inadequate packaging protection.

  • Some units fail to power on or show severe video issues shortly after running.

  • Open-box Fair units can cause game crashes soon after launch, leading to returns.

I bought a "fair" yesterday. Returned it today. I was able to get through setup, download and install 2 games. Both games i tried crashed a minute or two after starting them. I tried 5 different times. Junk!
Bought one in excellent condition via shipping (TX to MD) - just arrived. Missing the stand, but has everything else. Looks good cosmetically and seems to work just fine. If that changes I'll come back and post again!

Bought an excellent condition unit. It arrived yesterday and came missing accessories, no box, barely any bubble wrap bouncing around in a beat up box. Wouldn't turn on. Returning it Monday. What a waste of my time. Going to avoid buying used things from Best Buy from now on. I was sort of amazed how little shipping protection they used. 1/3 of the console wasn't even covered with a single layer of bubble wrap. Yeesh.
This is very common with Beat Buy

Yeah, I have since learned that. Oh well. There are plenty of other places for me to spend my money. I'll stick to brand new stuff at rock bottom prices when dealing with Best Buy from now on.
