Yes they can. MicroSDExpress is fully backwards compatible with MicroSDXC. So any device that can read mSDXC can read the card, at regular SDXC speeds.

Really good price for a 256gb micro sd card in this current era of storage prices. Probably not good for something like a dash cam, I would go with one of the Endurance variants. Good for a Nintendo switch.

Imagine how miserable your life would have to be if you can only afford one console so you build your entire personality around hating the other ones.

This 256GB Samsung microSD Express card stands out as a strong price on fast storage, especially for Switch 2 and other devices that support SD Express. It is also described as a solid fit for Nintendo Switch, with faster PC reads when paired with an Express reader and continuous writes rated at 30MB per second. The main caution is compatibility, since non Express devices fall back to UHS I speeds around 100MB per second. For dash cams and other constant recording gear, endurance cards are the safer match.

Will storage and ram ever go back to the "normal" prices again? I bought this card back in March of this year for $31.50 and I thought it was too high and thought about returning it cause I remember looking for a 512gb card last year and they were hovering around $30-$35 when on sale.

I don't think the Express cards ever went down to $30-35 on sale.

The normal microSDXC cards do dip down to that level though.

Prices will probably drop eventually. It's just that we don't know how long this bubble is going to last. Also, it's possible prices won't fall to as low as they used to be. I remember getting 512GB microSD for $20-25 before COVID.

There was one 1-2 weeks ago for $150 on Amazon but definitely not the $80ish price point from January.
$150 is way too expensive for my taste. That's like 1/3 the price of the Switch 2. ~$70-80 is about the max I can tolerate for 512GB.

I guess I'll just install Switch 2 games as needed instead of keeping my library on SD.

Why not a dash cam?

Me too, I bought this at $33 last year when cards were cheap so this is close enough; I'm shocked it didn't sell out quickly especially for a 256. the only thing I can think of is still....people believe Express is not backwards compatible ie "those cards are made for switch only."

Because you don't need to pay extra for an *express card* that your HW can't even utilize
These are $40, the Lexar Silver Plus Card is $65. Plus, read speeds on PC will be way faster with these too...if I get an express reader.

I remember seeing 512GB regular microSD cards for ~$40 on sale around March. Unless I absolutely needed a new card, I wouldn't buy 256GB for $40.

Granted, I still have a few unused pre-AI bubble 128 (~$10-12), 256 (~$20) and 512 ($30-35) Samsung EVO Select and PRO+ cards stashed away. I only bought one Sammy 1TB ($70) which is already in use on my Steam Deck. Wish I'd bought more.

You could try ebay. Got my 512gb card a few months ago for around $60 but they might be closer to $80 now
