2 things...

The ribbing on this makes it appear this is similar to the old school green hose but they made it black to look like their awesome rubber hoses that were truly no kink. Slick dealers from 10 to 15 years ago know what I'm talking about and probably still own those beasts.

The other thing... a year or 2 ago I bought the "new" briggs and stratton (i imagine the same as the old craftsman) rubber hose and it is definitely better than your average big box hose but it is thinner than the old Sears ones that were kink free monsters.

Is there any modern rubber hose that competes with the old Sears rubber hoses ala 10 years ago?

I know what you mean: I have one of the Craftman rubber hose and still going strong for over 15 years under the Southern California sun. Bought a "contractor" hose from Costco a few years ago and it's already falling apart. Sure it was cheaper but now it's good for the landfill.

Those old Craftsman hoses were an amazing deal. I still have mine and the have lived outside for decades. They were made by Parker Hannifin who still makes a ton of commercial hose products at exceptionally high prices.
