Lavazza Espresso Barista Gran Crema is a medium roast whole bean blend that shines in espresso machines, especially super automatic setups, with smooth chocolatey flavor, rich crema, and low bitterness. It also works well in French press, Aeropress, and drip, and the price is often described as strong value for the bag size. The main knocks are that freshness can be inconsistent and some batches taste too bold, flat, or stale. It is a solid everyday coffee if you like a fuller, less acidic cup.

  • Home baristas making lattes or cappuccinos, because it stays smooth, chocolatey, and not too bitter or acidic in milk drinks.

  • Automatic espresso machine owners wanting a dependable daily bean, because it pulls well in super-automatic machines and stays good value for the price.

  • French press drinkers who like a medium roast, because it brews well there and still tastes smooth rather than bitter.

  • Drip coffee drinkers who prefer a medium roast with chocolate notes, because it tastes least bitter and works well as a daily morning brew.

  • People expecting a fresh-tasting bag every time, because freshness can be inconsistent and some bags can taste stale.

  • Drinkers who prefer a smoother, more balanced espresso profile, because this blend can feel sharper or less balanced than other Lavazza options.

  • Espresso drinkers who want a very complex, nuanced cup, because the roast can taste too bold and cover up the blend's subtler flavors.

  • French press drinkers who want a lighter, less intense cup, because the crema-heavy blend can taste more sour or bitter without an espresso maker.

I feel that since taste is so subjective, you really need to give us examples what what you think tastes good. For example, if someone says, "this is gross, Dunkin Donuts regular coffee is so much better," then I know they don't like stronger roasts and probably should stick to "Donut Shop Blend" type coffees.
I can tell you are a more than average intelligent person. I am saying this with 100% sincerity. The reason is the way you replied. 😀

I just went into my Amazon account and noticed the steady price increase.
11/23/25 $9.07 each
5/19/26 $11.53 each on 3 bags
4/24/26 I bought a bag of the Crema E Aroma for $12.16 and personally I prefer the Espresso Barista.

Those were the good days. I think everything have gone up 25% in the last 6-months. I couldn't believe how much a roll of aluminum foil goes for now.

My favorite coffee. Chocolaty and smooth with my espresso maker. I use to love Costco Starbucks house blend until I tried this.

For $17.99 S&S for better tasting Lavazza Super Crema, and for mainly drinking cappuccinos from my automatic, I'd prefer that choice to this deal, but everyone has their own taste profile, I guess! That's what I'm getting today to refill my stash
I def preferred this after trying super crema. Like you said it's preference. I do think however if you aren't using with espresso maker, that crema is wasted and would probably taste more soar and bitter without it.

I ordered another bag after checking the packaging dates on the previous order.

All 3 bags from the May 19th order had the manufacture date of 4/20/26 with Best Use By: 3/30/2028 on them.

agreed, this is my favorite of theirs. super crema (the usual favorite) is *too* smooth for me (verging on bland) and their espresso italiano is slightly sharper than I'd prefer (but will still get that when it's < $11). gran crema hits all the right notes for me: chocolatey, not floral, full without being bitter...
Super Crema was actually the one bag I hadn't tried yet so I actually bought a bag during this sale too haha, sounds like maybe I should've just stuck to the gran crema but always fun trying new flavors
