I think it's more that ur getting less "ink" now per pen than you used to. I've bought them at staples, target etc. and you say great price, then u get almost no use out of them bc they don't fill them as much. Other times I get stuff that last forever. If it was a drying problem or on shelf problem u would get some signs in the tip when u open them.
