I also agree it's shady with the new shrinkflation angle too. I can't stand that.

Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black and Gold are the premium Shin bags, with richer broth and firmer noodles than the cup version. Black is described as beef bone broth with a more robust, less spicy flavor, while Gold is chicken flavored and also gets praise for taste. The packs include three seasoning packets, and the noodles are often dressed up with egg, cheese, or vegetables for a fuller meal. The main caution is price and shrinkflation, since the deal is compared against cheaper Shin Red and Costco pricing, and the coupon does not always appear.
Common Questions (4)
Shin Black and Gold are the premium versions, while Red is the cheaper regular Shin Ramyun. Black is beef/bone broth and Gold is chicken broth, and Black also comes with 3 packets instead of the single large red packet.
At around $20 shipped with Subscribe & Save, it is considered a solid price for Black, which has often been $2+ per pack. Costco pricing mentioned in the thread is for Shin Red or a different pack size, not this Black 16-pack.
Black is described as more robust and less spicy than Red. It still has the Shin heat, but the bone broth flavor makes it feel richer and less focused on spice.
Yes. Using only half the seasoning packet is suggested, and common add-ins include egg, cheese, frozen veggies, and beef or meatballs for a fuller bowl.

I can't speak for the Gold, but Black has been $2+ each for a long time. You could get Red for ~.80 each on a deal, but I've never seen the black that low and I've had price alerts with the Camels setup forever.+

That said, I usually just get the cheaper red and add an egg and some frozen veggies to it for a healthier more filling meal.
Once you go black, you never go red.
