Lottery brand. You might get lucky, you might not.

I have had mixed luck with some of them. Some still are going while others had issues.

That's not quite what's happening... There are a handful of fabricators (Samsung, SK Hynix, Sandisk, Micron, Kioxia) who make 95% of the NAND memory that goes into everything from Micro SD cards, to big server-specific 100TB+ drives. They all only have so much capacity to manufacture that generalized NAND memory, and the higher margin products are tailored for datacenter / server applications. Because demand is sky-high for those products and margins continue to expand for them, all those NAND manufacturers have shifted capacity from consumer products like SD cards, NVMe drives, and board-integrated NAND modules, over to server specific products. The same thing is happening with DRAM right now, only worse. HBM has much higher fabrication costs, but also higher margins, so it's displacing all the generalized DRAM we have in everything from smartphones, to PCs, and even cars and appliances.

Basically, if demand for corn were to go sky-high, all adjacent products that used corn (Corn flakes, Corn Syrup, Cornbread, etc) would be displaced unless the demand and margins came up enough to make selling to those secondary markets just as attractive.

We're seeing that play out with Samsung and SK Hynix both committing to expanding consumer-facing product manufacturing, especially when Micron has begun the process of discontinuing their consumer brands. It'll all eventually implode as all NAND / DRAM cycles eventually do because all these companies are aggressively building out capacity, but until then, we all get to pay elevated prices.

They were better in the past when Micron used to make their NAND, but since YMTC started making their NAND, their record is not quite what it used to be. They're probably on part with someone like TeamGroup, where they're an acceptable lower cost alternative to Samsung and Sandisk, particularly for lower priority storage.

They have a lifetime warranty, so why not. If something goes wrong get it replaced.
