Pokémon Legends Z.A on Switch 2 stands out as a physical release that includes the base game on cartridge, with the Switch 2 upgrade bundled in the box and playable on both Switch 1 and Switch 2. The real time combat with move cooldowns sets it apart from the usual turn based Pokémon formula, and the game has drawn strong praise for being hard to put down, even across dozens of hours. The DLC is also described as pretty good, though its price makes the full package feel expensive. At $45, it is framed as the best current deal, with past Costco pricing lower.
The physical cartridge includes the Switch version, while the Switch 2 upgrade is provided via a code in the box.
The Switch 2 Edition format can still work for Switch 1 owners because the Switch 1 game runs from the cart with the upgrade pack included.
The game offers real-time combat with move cooldowns, which can feel closer to Legends Arceus than turn-based entries.
The base game can provide long playtime, with reports of 85+ hours without DLC or online features.
Buying only the base game can feel risky because the expansion or upgrade is described as expensive.
The Switch 2 upgrade is delivered through a code in the box, which can add friction if codes are missing or not redeemable.
The game's real-time, cooldown-based combat style may not match preferences for turn-based Pokémon entries.
The $45 price may be less attractive if lower-cost deals reappear, since past GameStop and used online pricing were reported around the same level but are no longer available.

Both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 version are on the Switch 2 cart. The Switch 2 cart plays on both systems.
As for the game, I was never a Pokémon fan. Never played one for more than a couple hours until Arceus which I did beat but haven't touched it since. Z-A Is great. I have over 85 hours into it and had to force myself to put it down. This is just playing the base game, no DLC or online play.
