Samsung's 65 inch S90F is drawing attention as a glossy QD OLED with strong picture quality and a price that lands well below comparable LG C5 options. The glossy screen is a big draw for people who want more pop and richness, and the TV is praised for looking excellent in normal viewing. Reflection handling matters, though, especially in bright rooms, and Dolby Vision support is missing. Warranty and Samsung Care Plus activation also come up as concerns, so it feels best suited to buyers who value the panel and can live with the tradeoffs.
Movie watchers who prefer Dolby Vision-free setups, because the TV's HDR10 presentation is described as effectively indistinguishable in practice.
For this TV, the lack of Dolby Vision is not a dealbreaker for many buyers because Samsung uses HDR10/HDR10+ instead, and several comments say the practical difference is hard to notice in normal viewing. If Dolby Vision is a must-have for you, though, this model will not satisfy that preference.
The 65-inch model is reported to use a glossy QD-OLED panel, and it may be the last glossy screen QD-OLED Samsung makes. That matters if you want the extra picture pop of glossy OLED, but it also means reflections are more noticeable than on matte screens.
Yes. One shopper saw $972 with an edu account, while another got the deal to work at $774 plus tax for $828 after retrying in Firefox on a phone and watching the video. EPP pricing also varies, with first responder-style discounts reported as smaller than ticketsatwork.
Samsung Care+ can fail to register on this TV, with an "update unsuccessful" error appearing when submitting the serial number. In that case, support may not be able to fix it, so using a credit card with purchase protection is a practical backup.
You could not pay me to own one of these displays. Dig deeper on actual reviews. I've had to replace numerous S90 for clients. Random black screen requiring a full reboot. Failures. Warranty not being honored. I refuse to supply them.
Are you seeing those issues with the s90F or the known terrible s90D?
Because they are way cheaper than new. I just got my refurbished S90FD from them and it was brand new with 0 hours and still had the plastic on the screen.
So I had ordered the lg c5 on Amazon after being unable to replicate this deal. Tried multiple browsers. About an hour ago, I tried once again, making sure I watched the video and going through Firefox on my phone. Scored. $774 plus tax made it $828. I know the C5 is probably slightly better, but not for an extra $326..at least for me. Actually, more like $350 with tax.
