This is a fantastic deal in the current market due to inflated AI pricing. The next step up would be 50% more for the 5080 MSI laptop at Walmart, also on SlickDeals. It's less than a 50% of a graphics performance upgrade, but you do get double the vram and double the storage.
If I were shopping for a laptop right now, I would definitely get this over a RTX 5070 with 8 GB because that's just not enough vram to run new games at high quality settings in 2026.

I hate to be the "only 16GB ram" guy but yeah 32GB would have been nice. I do see this is the thicker full speed Neo 16 though as opposed to the "S". I ended up purchasing the refurbished "S" one on eBay with 32GB of ram and 2 year Allstate warranty for $1372 in another SD post. Seemed like a great deal. Guess I'll see when it arrives. I prefer the thinner profile for travel even though it's throttled due to less wattage.

Predator gaming laptops are a mixed bag.

You won't have the level of control other OEMs give you... BIOS is locked, and undervolting/underclocking aren't supported. But they're incredibly well-built otherwise.

Acer support after warranty is basically "lolwut?".

I had an issue with a system I bought open box... just wanted recovery media. I could not get Acer to reassign the system to my Acer account in order for me to get assistance until like a year after I asked for recovery media. At that point, they directed me to 3rd party for out-of-support hardware. I couldn't even buy it from Acer directly.

Love the hardware... hate the service... uninspired by the software.
Parts availability is also poor compared to HP & Lenovo.

IMO, It is better to purchase Predators on ebay as certified-refurb with 2 year 3rd party warranty than new with 1 year Acer warranty.
