I've been doing more electrical work around the house, installing lights and a garbage disposal and changing outlets and I've found these to be simple and helpful tools.

As a journeyman electrician this non contact voltage tester is horrible. Do not trust your life with this. Drop it once a foot or two off the ground and it gives nothing but false readings. I like Klein but this is NOT one of their quality tools. The outlet tester works as expected though.

Same, although for me it's been changing receptacles and replacing ceiling fans and switches. Wouldn't have attempted either without having both of these tools in my possession.

Be sure to use Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries to prevent battery leakage/ corrosion. My last test pen stopped working because I did not use it for a while and the alkaline batteries leaked and destroyed the tester.

You should never be trusting your life to a NCV. NCV is always used only to confirm a circuit is hot.
