Anyone know how good the routing / mapping is for hiking on these watches?

Lots of solid reviews on YT, like the Quantified Scientist - I found that video extremely helpful for my decision to order this watch.

He noted since this is single band GPS support, it's (obviously) not as good as dual band. But, it's generally reliable/accurate, especially at the MSRP this watch has.

Worst case, it doesn't work well and I have 30-days to return it for free.

I bought the watch in part for this. I have an upcoming trip but have only used it locally so far. For the route, you'll need to import a GPX file. When you upload the GPX, the app will highlight the region and prompt you to download. You can download contours as well. You can view the elevation profile when hiking as well as seeing your point along it. So, it's got everything it needs even if the system is a little clucky and requires preparation beforehand. What I can't yet confirm is how good the backcountry maps are. Also, you're limited to about 2 GB of storage when accounting for the system software. That's not much of a concern for trails. However, if you have music stored on the device as well, it'll quickly eat into the free space.

As an activity tracker, this has met all my expectations and far exceeds the feature set you'd find on other watches for the price. As a smart watch, it needs some refinement. It does the basics but lacks the Android integration of a Garmin, etc. For example, NFC payments aren't possible in the US and you only get text based push notifications from Google Maps.
