4 gb more RAM on the XT. Money being similar, that really sounds like it'd stay relevant longer.

The 4 GB make a big difference performance wise?

Not as much as people like to exaggerate.

They're mostly looking at benchmarks, not real world usage.

If you're playing at 1080P or 1440P or even 4K, it's going to take a while for lacking that extra 4GB to catch up with you. DLSS definitely compensates greatly.

The only reason to go with the XT is if you have a specific LLM that runs on AMD and needs the extra vRAM today.

Not really now (unless you're running ultra at 4k on today's AAA games with RT, which you're probably not doing with this card anyway) but 2-5 years into the future on 1080p, who knows. There were people just a few years ago that would have guessed the 6gb of VRAM would be safe at 1080p for a lot longer. Now 8gb of VRAM is starting to look like it may not last much longer as the cut off even at 1080p.

That is wild, paying almost double for 25% more performance. Not a good time to be into pc gaming. 🤷

It does depending on games and settings, some games will demand that extra 4 GBs and only more games will require it, unless you plan to replace the card in a year or two but with the way they have been increasing in price with every generation that may not be the best idea. I would go with the 9070xt just make sure it's a better model like the gigabyte OC . I have had bad luck with XFX and other cheaper brands, PNY is a bad brand also.

For game, most people say no

for AI, huge difference if you ever want to use the same GPU for AI experiments and most people should if they have a decent size GPU.

16GB is really necessary as most LLM provider quants it down to fit on 16GB, not 12GB.

im in similar boat....9070xt is on average 100 or so more, so this price is more in line w/ 9060xt or 9070 non xt

Another consideration is if you are running windows or planning on or already running Linux. AMD cards are natively supported on Linux but Nvidia and Intel video cards run through additional compatibility layers that take a few hits to performance right now.

DLSS seems way more developed than FSR though.
