I don't have this particular model but the ST1620T which I got 2 years ago without battery and charger for $220. It's very reliable product. I have weed whacked 3 ft tall heavy weed in a matter of hours across several acres and tight spots where my lawn mower can't go. The unit is very well sealed so the weeds haven't managed to destroy anything and the automatic feeder helps massively. I use this with the batteries I have for the snow blower as well as the 5ah ones from the leaf blower
Costco had this version so I tried it out. The battery lasted about 15 min and even with an additional battery I couldn't get much done. Thanks to costco's awesome return policy had no issues returning it even with incomplete packaging.
Costco sells Greenworks. Never seen Ego there

I have had this one for about 8 years. Absolutely love it. No issues. I am buying another and will sell the old for probably near this price. Price will not be seen again for awhile if ever. Usually in the mid $200s. Battery alone normal price is $199 yet can find deals for half that.
The line autoload feature is a godsend. I use on an acre with a bunch of fencing. I can't do the entire yard on the 2.5 battery but 3/4 of it. I usually throw a 5 ah on it for that job. That's a lot of trimming and normal size yards 2.5 would be no issue in one charge.
If you need a trimmer or want to start with EGO products grab this ASAP. Just buy it now if you change your mind return it but if you wait to think about it you'll miss out on the pricing. If you are debating if you need or not but want the deal I would recommend buying from Lowe's for easy return. Batteries being hazmat may be a difficult return item if Amazon will or not.
Also Lowe's has a deal if you by the protection plan for $28 2 year or $33 3 year you get 50% back towards maintenance items per year up to $100 a year. Good for batteries and trimmer line. If the batteries are on sale later then that might make for a good deal but not if full price like it is now at $199

Amazon also had it for slightly cheaper $149.15 yesterday before going back up to $157 to match Lowes.
Was able to order it in that small window.
EDIT: Ignore the below, this isn't the multi-head model. I was fooled by the latch thing and didn't look more closely.
This really worked out as all I needed with the trimmer head, but for $150 it was a no brainer to also get the upgraded powerhead with plus a battery.
I already had the older powerhead which still works great.

Not entirely sure what you mean specifically. The bump feed head is replaceable. There may be some aftermarket support from different brands with different features. If you're asking if this can be changed from a trimmer to another tool such as an edger, hedge trimmer, and so on, then the answer is no. You will need a power head (model ph1400 or ph1420) or a combo/tool that is equipped with one of the aforementioned power head units.
