there's an opensource app called Shizuku which can do root stuff on phones that are not rooted
it will allow you to see and disable apps that should not be running

there used to be a way to get root on Samsung devices up to OneUI 5.0 but unfortunately this phone is 6.1 so we have to wait until someone finds something new

but mine actually says UNLIMITED talk+text for one year after activation
the 1500 is the paygo plan, this phone uses some kind of new UNI plan
however there is only 1GB of data for the YEAR
but that data is HOTSPOT allowed
my old PAYGO data carried over to this new phone but it's listed seperately and not elgible for hotspot
you may need to use cleanup apps that disable junk services and spy services that run in the background
you can also use developer tools to only allow a few processes to run at a time
I have no idea what verizon has changed but while my old tracfones in previous years did have that 1500/year thing, this phone shows completely different things under the online account menu and when you text BAL to 611611
the 1500 is old "PAYGO"
this phone uses some kind of new plan called "UNI"
scroll back several messages, I posted account screenshots
screenshot shows UNLIMITED TEXT+SMS only DATA is limited to 1GB but it allows HOTSPOT which old paygo did not allow hotspot
The issue is mainly 4gb RAM, it just not enough to run a modern Android device and that weak processor aint helping either

Not sure it's worth losing all my saved minutes, texts, etc if it forces us onto the unlimited plan for 1 month (which would require me to stay with the unlimited plan, or start building everything up again after the [possibly only] 1 month unlimited). 🤔
The last Samsung I used was a galaxy 10e, but seems like it would be slower than that (which had 6GB RAM w a much smaller screen). I guess it depends what everyone is using it for? This is definitely not for gaming, but if it can't handle browsing the Internet, I will probably pass. I was only wanting it for the time/minutes & going to use the device as a backup in case my mom's phone quit (whom browses the Internet regularly).

it's possible some people had returns or something weird going on where the SIM was no longer tied to the year of service
but worked for me
my service says through July 2027
