Get the Terro (liquid ant bait - the ones where you cut the end off the container and sit it down). I have both and these are just not effective. I put one of these and a Terro next to each other outside in the garage where ants were forming just to test and the ants completely ignored this one and went for the Terro.

Maybe the Terro killed them faster, and with these STEM things maybe the ants took the bait back to their colony and did the work behind the scenes.

With what they're saying, they observed the ants swarming over the Terro and completely ignoring this one. I've see that too, the ants all over the Terro and then a few hours later, they're all gone.

Make your own ant bait. Borax, sugar and a little bit of water to form a paste.

I will look up some vids on that because sounds cheaper (once you "invest" in Borax),
But we have pets. Will need to use some container to keep them out, like these bait kits do.
Repped for the suggestion.

There's reddit posts that Terro kills too effectively. It does not kill the mound because they never make it back. Wink

I've had good luck with terro but will try this out for the price!! Thanks!!

Here's terro descript:
TERRO® indoor ant baits are the best control option when looking to get rid of ants invading the inside of your home. Ant baits are surprisingly simple in the way they work. Borax, the active ingredient in TERRO® Ant Killer and TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits, is a natural ingredient that has a low level of toxicity for humans, but is deadly to ants. As ant foragers from the colony look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid in the insect bait and greedily consume it.

Why does Borax kill ants? While the ant bait will ultimately kill the worker ant, it interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the bait with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is needed to allow time for each foraging ant to make several trips to the bait and deliver it back to the colony. As they travel, the ants drop a pheromone trail from the bait to the nest, which lets the other ants know where the food supply has been found. The ants hungrily follow the trail to the bait, which explains why a homeowner will initially see more ants when using TERRO® ant baits.

All depends on what kind of ant you have and the situation. I have great luck with the Terro liquid that you put out on to small pieces of cardboard, ants flock to it like it's crack, less luck with the set and forget liquid Terro traps. Amdro granules are great for outdoors. Carpenter ants need a protein bait. I'm sure these are fine as a passive solution if you know you get ants in certain spots in your house but definitely not to fight an active infestation.

Yes Terro does kill too quick. I've been having ants that have ignored the Terro and have switched to Advion. Although still sugar based, the ants went for it instead of the Terro. And the poison works slower allowing more of it to make it back to the colony. It doesn't leave behind a graveyard of dead ants.
