Damn. Just bought the 64 oz Mothers California Gold Carnauba Wash & Wax. Better? Sure, but not 2x as much for $3 more better.

That washes and waxes in one go. Shiney balls in half the time.

I've been using dish soap for my entire life. Am I really missing out on something?

Lifetime supply? 1 gallon of car wash soap lasts me a couple of months with 2 cars.

Yep. Dish soap cleans great, but removes any wax/sealants you have on the car as well. You should only use dish soap to get a clean slate before waxing/sealing the paint, then use a neutral car wash soap, which will not strip wax away.

Hype brands (looking at you, Chemical Guys), yeah. And it's no replacement for an actual wax/ceramic coating. But the Mothers or Meguiar formulas claim not to strip either, so both should be fine for quick washes before cars and coffee.

Dish soap is great. But it is a detergent, so it strips off existing wax/ceramic coatings. If you're planning on waxing/ceramic coating after washing, it's probably one of the more cost effective options.
