Lol. I modified an Alaska cruise from two people for $1200 to one person and the price jumped to over $6800! Talk about a solo traveler premium. That is downright hostile.

Went on MSC once. Would not recommend.
Why's that? I went on one 2 years ago and it was amazing. And I've been on the brand new Royal Caribbean ships several times too FWIW. For the price that MSC cruises are, it's a good budget friendly experience imo

Agreed. Been on three MSC cruises so far and they've all been great. Same overall experience as Carnival and Royal but at a fraction of the price and with nowhere near the crowds. Excursions, drink packages, wifi, etc. are all considerably cheaper than the competitors. Ocean Cay is also my absolute favorite cruise ship private island experience by far.

Agree with all that especially about Ocean Cay! Most cruise lines stop at their own private islands for a few hours and then leave in the afternoon giving you no time to enjoy it, but the fact MSC has a lot of itineraries that stay there overnight is awesome and doesn't feel rushed. We did several night excursions like see through paddle boarding and saw sharks and tons of fish, plus it was so quiet on that part of the island which was relaxing. Also the night beach parties/bonfires were fun too. Can't do that on other cruises.

Buy travel insurance or book a different time. Odds are, travel insurance will cost less than booking outside of hurricane season. Also, cruise lines will change itinerary rather than cancel. The ocean is large, and they rarely stay in port. However, don't book from NYC to the Carribean during hurricane season because they will likely re-route to Canada -- unless you don't mind the change. A friend had that happen on Virgin in April and it was a big disappointment for them as that's not the ideal time to visit Canada.

There's been some decent Alaska deals this season, but the cost to get up there kind of ruins it. Been twice so far this year with another booked for September.

They're getting harder to find, but occasionally you can get a last minute deal on a Yacht Club cabin. I scored a 7 day Western Caribbean yacht club solo deal earlier this year. $1950 all in. I recommend everyone try it once. Will be tough to go back to a regular cabin though.

Drink and wifi for 7 night Alaska $1021 /pp Yikes, that doesn't seem considerably cheaper.
