Yes. Even if you purchased a digital Switch 2 Edition of a full game, that game is entirely playable on Switch 1.

Yes. The Switch 2 edition is what's installed, but the cartridge acts as the key that allows it to be played.

From everything that I have read and seen around the web, yes you do have to have the switch cartridge in to play it. This is true for all but 1 game (at least from a few months ago). The only game that doesn't require that is Hogwarts Legacy. That I can confirm firsthand that you can borrow that game and upgrade to the Switch 2 version for cheap and not have to use the cartridge anymore.

This seems absurd to me, you have to pay extra to not be artificially capped on superior hardware you also paid for.

The "Zelda Notes" app integration is new. Basically adds audio diaries from Zelda. If i remember the Treehouse Live correctly, I think it also added some functionality for sharing items with people?

Ring Fit Adventure also converts to a digital only game after installing it.

But that's mainly because it was never released on the shop and there's no other way to play it.
